Director general of Iran's Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism
stated: coincides with the opening of the cultural capital of the Islamic world
event, the first exhibition of 14 centuries of Iranian art and culture will be
held in Mashhad.
According to the Office of Communications Media of the Islamic cultural Capital-Mashhad 2017, Mohammad Reza Kargar appreciated the selection of Mashhad as the host of this cultural event, stating: one of our major priorities in 2017 will be the establishment of cultural events congruous with the position of Mashhad in the world as the cultural capital of the Islamic World.
He emphasized on the need to promote the identity and history of Islamic-Persian art, expressing: the new title of cultural capital of the Islamic World for Mashhad is really appropriate due to the fact that Khorasan province has been the focal point of developments in the Islamic world for many years.
Kargar pointed out that simultaneously with the event of Mashhad-2017, the history of 14 centuries of Islamic Iran will be displayed in an exhibition, affirming: this is the first exhibition held in Khorasan Razavi with this subject and has the highest capacity, compared to other exhibitions in the country. 14 centuries of Islamic art and civilization, including 200 historical objects from the early centuries to the end of Qajar era, will be displayed in an exhibition held in Khorasan Great Museum.
According to the director general of Iran's Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism, recognition of Islamic culture and civilization will not be possible without Khorasan, expressing: it will be one of our priorities to use all the power and capacity of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism organizations in order to exhibit exquisite Islamic arts of our country at the Khorasan Great Museum, along with the opening ceremony of Mashhad-2017 event in February.
